Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity Sister Mary Ann Spanjers reflects on a recent visit to the Motherhouse with San Miguel high school seniors.
Easter week was a wonderful time for two San Miguel high school seniors from Tucson to spend some time of discernment reflection at the Motherhouse. They enjoyed each day of their visit, having meals with individual Sisters in Temporary Vows and Katie, participating in instructions with Katie, Sister Kathleen and the postulancy team, creating beautiful rosary bracelets with Sister Mariella, learning about spiritual direction from Sister Anne Marie, prayer and supper with the Sisters at Chiara Convent, planting seeds with Sister Caritas, a pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help, prayer and sharing about the San Damiano Cross and a continued discussion of “The Journey and the Dream” with Sister Julie Ann and Sister Mary Ann. The young women commented on “how committed the Sisters are with such joy.” They felt so welcome and at home and were so very grateful for this amazing experience. Everyone was so gracious and solicitous preparing many meaningful experiences!
