St. Peter Indian Mission, Bapchule AZ

The Franciscan Sisters have been a Franciscan presence on the Gila River Reservation for 83 years. While Sister Martha is the St. Peter Mission School principal, Sister Elena and Sister Pamela Catherine are classroom teachers. Sister Carol serves as a computer teacher, Sister Dora Lee assists with special projects and Sister Barbara Jean is the librarian and Sister Thereselle assists in the classrooms. All are involved in other activities and outreach as needs arise.

Sr. Mary Karen is an education consultant to the Diocese of Tucson as an Academic and Behavior Interventionist who works with principals and teachers to meet not only the students identified with special education needs, but ALL students who are struggling in the school environment.

MISSION SAN XAVIER DEL BAC TUCSON, AZ

Though San Xavier Mission serves the local Tohono O’odham community, visitors from across the world visit “The White Dove of the Desert”. All are welcome to attend Masses and special celebrations.

On the Tohono O’odham Reservation, Sr. Rosalyn is an interventionist at San Xavier Mission School. Sr. Carla’s pastoral work in religious education and sacramental ministry embraces parishioners of all ages of the San Xavier Catholic Community.

ST. ANDREW PARISH SIERRA VISTA, AZ

The Franciscan Sisters began serving at St. Andrew Parish in August 2014. Sister Joellen  is Religious Education Director while Sister Doris is also very involved in the local community.

IMMACULATE CONCEPTION PARISH

Franciscan sisters came to Immaculate Conception Grade School in the 1930’s serving in Catholic education. In 2000 Tucson Bishop Gerald Kicanas invited us to serve at Yuma Catholic High School. Today, Sr. Ann Mary and Sr. Janet assist with student needs while Sr. Lorita serves in the school office at Immaculate Conception School.

YUMA CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL YUMA, AZ

Yuma Catholic High School is the only Catholic high school located in the southwestern corner of Arizona in the Tucson Diocese. Opened in 2000, Yuma Catholic is an authentic Catholic high school supported by the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity on staff and a strong Catholic lay principal, two assistant principals, faculty and staff. Sister Alexandra serves as a secretary and recently professed Sister Sr. Mary Teresa teaches Theology and math.

Here, Christ is real and His presence is experienced each day as people work and learn and grow together to make His Kingdom a reality in our world.
