Our Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity serving on the Tohono O’odham Nation are very aware of the recent sense of grief among the people on the reservation. They are mourning the death of Officer Bryan Brown,  a member of their police department for 19 years, the past 10 as a school resource officer. Officer Brown was loved by all especially the youth of the nation. He was struck and killed with his patrol vehicle on August 27th while responding to a call about an erratic driver. Officer Brown was 57 and just a few weeks from retirement.

A memorial service was held at the Desert Diamond Casino Diamond Center on September 12th.

Tohono O’odham communities set up memorials throughout the reservation.  These photos are from San Xavier. The Sisters stood outside their convent September 6th during a memorial parade through the village.
