Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity Sister Hannah Johnecheck reflects on one of nature’s wonders at St. Peter Mission, Bapchule, Arizona. Like the Desert Fathers and Desert Mothers who recorded lessons learned from all that was part of their daily lives, so the Franciscan Sisters share desert wisdom found in their day to day encounters.

Saguaro Cactus, Palo Verde Tree; two images of strength. They stand tall. Their roots are deep. The desert teaches strength. The desert teaches deep grounding. The desert teaches us to stand tall. God is our roots. God enables us to stand tall. God enables us to live and add beauty in challenging environments just like the Saguaro and Palo Verde. – SIster Hannah Johnecheck
