Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity serving at Immaculate Conception Catholic School, Yuma Catholic High School and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School baked 2000 cookies to share with the area folks. Why?

It is our way of thanking the Lord for 150 years of our Congregation’s founding. What better way than to personally present a bit of sweetness to those who have shown us the goodness of the Lord in our midst.

St. Francis of Assisi had a sweet tooth, too. When he was approaching death, he sent a letter to Lady Jacoba, a friend in ministry, that she should bring a favorite recipe of almond cookies that he and the friars enjoyed.

Before the letter was sent, Lady Jacoba arrived with the ingredients and other items needed. We felt it fitting to share almond cookies at the parish festivals. We enjoy being at the booths, wearing shirts representing all of our ministry loyalties, and distributing our bakery.
