On Feb. 11, Pope Francis appointed Archbishop-designate Weisenburger, who has served as Tucson’s bishop since 2017, as Detroit’s sixth archbishop. He was installed on March 18. During the Mass of Installation, turning to then-Archbishop-designate Weisenburger, Cardinal Pierre expressed his gratitude on behalf of Pope Francis for his acceptance of the care of Detroit’s faithful.

Sister Mary Ann Spanjers taught in the Tucson Diocese collaborating with Archbishop Weisenburger in various ways but especially inviting young adults to discern God’s call in their lives!

The Detroit Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament was filled with people from various parts of the U.S., inspiring music, prayer, processions, a homily about Jesus calling Peter/us to a deeper love, and an experience of Church coming together at Bishop Weisenburgers installation as the new Archbishop of Detroit!
